interview @ michael // version:piratey

Introduction: These are Aster's answers for an "Interviews" meme thread at DoA, with questions by Nana aka SacredMonsoon. This version is the slightly-condensed early-1800's piratey universe Michael who goes with the same version of Aiden, who also answered the interview.

Name: Michael Lindermann
Doll Mold: Dollzone 72cm Cosmo
Face up: default
Eyes: blue
Hair: blond, very short
Skin: normal pink skin
Age: 40

If you were to describe yourself with one word, what would it be? Unsimplifiable.

What is most important to you in the world? Aiden's happiness, health, and safety.

Would you help someone who needed it while passing? Most likely.

Are you very observant? Indubitably.

How innocent/naive can you be? I am most certainly neither, though I can act a child quite easily.

Can you entertain yourself easily? Absolutely, but I prefer to entertain others.

How well do you get along with others? Splendidly, unless they are of the enemy sort. Then, not so well.

What was the longest time you had a friend? Technically I knew Aiden's true father, Jack Lanham, some twenty-five years ago. We renewed that friendship five years before his very untimely death some months ago.

Do you have someone who knows you inside out? Not anymore...

How short is your temper? It is difficult to anger me, unless someone causes my young ward discomfort. Or threatens my ship. Or insults Shakespeare.

Can you let go of grudges easily? Generally yes, a hard heart makes for an early grave. Of course, in my line of profession, a solid reason for a grudge usually results in an early grave regardless.

Do you read? Frequently and with great pleasure.

Do you watch TV? Excuse me?

Do you collect anything? Books, books, and more books. I could also say "other people's belongings" but most of that gets sold before long.

How long do you stay interested in something? For as long as it stays interesting, of course... or until some new shiny thing comes along to distract.

If you collected, would it be for interest or profit? In the case of my previous answers, the former is for interest and the latter is for profit.

Do you know your parents/creator? My mother died in childbirth, my father left me his fortune and I cannot tell you if he would be impressed with my having promptly lost it to infamy or not.

What is your birthday? March the 21st, 1773.

Do you have any siblings? No indeed, I am an only child.

Ever have to fight for what you believe in? On occasion. It comes with the territory.

When did you move out on your own? I joined the priesthood at sixteen, and left it at thirty. I returned to my father's estate briefly, as not long after his death I was accused of crimes I did not commit. I was given the opportunity to flee and found piracy a most intriguing option. As to which of those points in my life amount to "first moved out on my own"... your guess is as good as mine.

When did you REALLY mature? I would have to say it was about the time I left the church. I had gained years, but overlooked wisdom. Quite glad I found my head, though I wish I had not wasted so much time.

Did you have many friends? "Did?" What an odd way to phrase the question. I have quite a few friends, although some I have not kept in touch with for obvious reasons. A good share of the crew falls into the category of friend. And of course, there is my dear young friend who is proving to be just as much a treasure as his father was.

Any action you regret? Joining the church. If only I had listened to my father... but when I get an idea, that is usually the end of argument.

What is a memory you treasure? Children's games many years ago with Jack. Children's games now, with Aiden. And that first sight of him playing in the field, as if looking back so many years... and knowing that the rumor proved true. Jack had indeed born a child without his knowledge until it was too late to confirm it himself.

Do you have a dream partner? I lost the one I would define as my dream partner a year ago. I suppose... that now, I will have to start over. I have Aiden to distract me, to keep at least some of the feelings of loss at bay. Perhaps with more time, I will find it in me to look for love again.

Do you believe you seek someone like your parents (or creator)? Hah! Amelia was anything but my father and certainly nothing like what I know of my mother. I do believe my taste in partners is free of any such limitations.

Do you have one night stands? I have, but I prefer a more meaningful relationship.

What feature is most attention grabbing for you? A pretty face, though do not let that delude you. I have no taste for women. A previous answer might bring surprise now, but then you did not know Amelia. I wish you could have met her... and were she still here, it would mean that Aiden could again have a mother, of sorts.

What MUST someone have for you to consider them? A pulse? Forgive me, but I have been known to find interest in those one might never expect me to like well.

Older, younger, same age as you? It does not matter, although I am usually the elder.

How do you feel about settling down? I am as settled as I care to be, on a ship that roams the seas freely.

How many dates before you go to bed with someone? If I have interest, and they have interest, the odds are good there will be no delay.

How do you handle rejection? I cannot recall ever having been rejected in the romantic sense. If it were a fickle thing, I would have a witty comeback. Were it a deep matter of the heart... I am sure it would sit ill with me for a time. Until the next distraction, naturally.

How many times did you stop something before it developed? If there are mutual feelings, why would I wish to stop it?

Have you settled down and if so for how long? I believe this has already partially been answered. As to for how long, I suppose someday I will retire, but I am having far too entertaining a time to give up piracy just yet.

Any Children? Only if you count my ward Aiden. There is no official documentation that binds the two of us, but then the only official documentation in legal realms that has anything to do with me is things like warrants for my arrest.

Any Grandchildren? Hah! Well, I suppose I am old enough for it, but no, that would require offspring and Aiden is certainly too young for any such grand...wards?

What do you love most about your partner? I do believe I am better labelled now as eligible bachelor, in all sorts of illegal ways.

Any petnames? ...

How many relationships have you been in? One, if we are talking the serious sort.

Have you ended any? I certainly did not choose for that one to end.

Has your heart been broken? By proxy of her unfair loss, yes.

Any loves you cannot have? ...Are you enjoying this?

Do you believe in true love? I have experienced it.

Have you ever died? I could not answer this if I had.

Can you even die? Most assuredly, not that I am in any great hurry.

Have you seen someone die? Yes.

Have you killed someone? Yes.

Have you had someone killed? I am the captain of a pirate vessel.

What makes you truly happy? I have a new reason to be happy, and his name is Aiden.

If you could, what is one thing you would spend your life doing? Being and giving whatever the child has need of.

Do you have a job, if so what is it? I am a fishmonger! Pirate, actually. Captain, if it matters. Redundant, this entire answer.

Have you ever gone insane? I am known as the Mad Priest, aren't I? Actually, no, I am perfectly sane. I would say, more so than when I was a priest, but that was a case of delusionment as opposed to madness.

Did you ever feel as if you were the only sane one in the world? I have no interest in judging the sanity of every sentient being on this planet.

If you had a choice, would you live a calm eternal life, or live a wild short life?
Hmm. You have given me something deeper than expected to ponder. I am not sure I have an answer for you... other than I would like to have a long life, to see as much of Aiden's as I can before my own ends.
